Blackberry Jam

Prep time:    10 minutes
Cook time:   20 minutes
Cost:              ~$3
Makes:         ~4 small jars

Since this blog is called Food With Jam I thought I should include a recipe for home-made blackberry jam. Go out and pick the blackberries in a large bucket while they are ripe right now, and then you only need to get jars and pectin to make this recipe, which is healthy, and a great gift. The cost is fairly low, depending on if you have jars, which often go on sale this time of year.

Ingredients:                                                Cost:
  1. 4 cups mashed blackberries         $0
  2. No sugar needed pectin               $3
What to do:
  1.  Boil jar lids
  2.  Wash and mash blackberries
  3.   In large pot on medium heat cook blackberries stirring in pectin
  4.    Add hot jam to jars and seal quickly with lids
  5.    Keep jam 6 months to 1 year
