Since
this blog is called Food With Jam I thought I should include a recipe for
home-made blackberry jam. Go out and pick the blackberries in a large bucket while they are ripe right now, and then you only need to get jars and
pectin to make this recipe, which is healthy, and a great gift. The cost is fairly low, depending on if you have jars, which often go on sale this time of year.
Ingredients: Cost:
- 4 cups mashed blackberries $0
- No sugar needed pectin $3
What
to do:
- Boil jar lids
- Wash and mash blackberries
- In large pot on medium heat cook blackberries stirring in pectin
- Add hot jam to jars and seal quickly with lids
- Keep jam 6 months to 1 year
